Congiunzioni di tempo

Precisano le circostanze temporali di quanto è espresso nella proposizione principale, mettendolo in relazione cronologica con quanto è espresso nella subordinata:

AFTER poi, dopo	I found your keys after you had left the house.
AFTER A SHORT TIME dopo un pò di tempo	I went on holiday alone but after a short time my husband joined me.
AFTER A WHILE poco dopo	I leave home at 7.30 every morning and my husband leaves after a while.
AFTERWORDS successivamente	He went back just afterwords.
AS mentre	He saw her as they were both getting off the bus.
AS SOON AS non appena	We called the ambulance as soon as we realized he had broken his leg.
AT LAST alla fine	We went back home at last.
AT PRESENT  attualmente	I'm studying English at present.
BEFORE prima	Tom always reads the newspaper before going to work.
IMMEDIATELY immediatamente	He went back immediately after me.
IN THE MEANTIME frattanto	I was calling him and in the meantime he came home.
LATER dopo	He stayed later than I did.
LATELY ultimamente	I've been smoking too much lately.
MEANWHILE nel contempo	I was calling him and meanwhile he came home.
